Monse-Heart Student Code of Conduct

To foster a positive and respectful online learning environment, we have established this Code of Conduct. It provides guidelines for online learning, class participation, and interactions among our students, faculty, and staff.

Virtual Classroom Learning and Account Setup:

  • Students are required to use a headshot as their profile picture. This image should be appropriate and non-offensive.
  • Students must choose a virtual video background that is suitable for an educational environment. Monse-Heart reserves the right to assess the appropriateness of profile pictures or virtual video backgrounds.
  • Upon request from a Monse-Heart faculty or staff member, students must update their profile picture or virtual video background.
  • During live classes, students are expected to wear attire suitable for an educational setting.
  • Each student’s account must be linked to a valid, appropriately named email address.
  • Students should not share their login credentials except for parents or legal guardians of students under 18.
  • We encourage students to designate a quiet, distraction-free area for live classes and individual study.

Minimizing Network Load:

  • Unless giving a presentation, students should refrain from sending or circulating videos during live sessions.
  • Microphones should be muted when not in use.
  • Students should keep their video on unless otherwise instructed by the teacher.
  • Use of live captions should be limited to necessary situations.

Interactions with Teachers, Staff, and other Students:

A. Within Virtual Classrooms:

  • All teachers and staff should be addressed respectfully and appropriately (Mr., Mrs., Ms., or Dr., followed by the last name).
  • Students should maintain respectful and courteous communication at all times.
  • Students should remember they are visible on camera and behave as they would in a face-to-face class.

B. Outside Virtual Classrooms:

  • Students should respect the communication boundaries set by their teachers.
  • It is important to check emails and other communication channels daily for updates.
  • Unsolicited contact with other students is prohibited unless it is course-related and respectful.
  • Students are expected to uphold academic integrity in all coursework. Plagiarism, unauthorized collaboration, and all other forms of academic dishonesty are strictly prohibited and may result in removal from the institute.

Privacy & Compliance with General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Students should not share course-exclusive materials or correspondences with third parties.
  • Taking screenshots or recording e-resources within the course is prohibited.
  • Teachers may record sessions for educational purposes. Students uncomfortable being recorded can inform the teacher and disable their camera.

Appropriate Use of the Internet:

  • Students must comply with all local, state, and federal laws governing internet use. Non-compliance will be thoroughly investigated, potentially leading to legal action.

Violations and Disciplinary Actions:

  • Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in corrective action, ranging from warnings to removal from Monse-Heart courses.
